Causes of Behaviour Problems
There is rarely one single cause. For young people aged 16–25, behaviour problems often stem from:
- Trauma or unresolved emotional pain
- Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, or ADHD
- Substance use or self-medicating with drugs and alcohol
- Academic pressures or bullying at school
- Family conflict or instability
- Identity struggles during a critical stage of development
Recognising these root causes is crucial. Effective intervention means treating the why, not only the what.
