Holina Cyprus is proud to announce a new partnership with Theocharis Recovery House Foundation, a registered Dutch non-profit dedicated to supporting the recovery community through comprehensive aftercare, referral partnerships, and housing support for our team in Cyprus.
A Partnership Built Around Continuity of Care
Residential treatment is only one part of recovery. What happens in the weeks and months after a client leaves Holina Village Cyprus — where they live, who they can call, how consistently they’re supported — shapes whether that recovery holds. This partnership is built around exactly that gap. Theocharis Recovery House Foundation will work alongside our clinical team on structured aftercare, cross-referral pathways between our programmes, and housing support for our team based in Cyprus, giving clients a more consistent line of support that extends beyond their stay with us.
Who Is Theocharis Recovery House Foundation
Theocharis Recovery House was founded by Nicholas Theocharis, who has been in recovery himself since 20 August 1997. He went on to train as a professional counsellor and spent the following years working across young offenders institutions, community rehabilitation services in southern England, and NHS high-security prison settings. In 2009 he was invited to deliver recovery interventions in Spain and advise on sober living services in the USA, before relocating to the Netherlands, where he founded Theocharis Recovery House in 2015. The organisation was granted official ANBI status — the Dutch designation for a registered public-benefit foundation — in 2022, and today operates as a registered Dutch Foundation governed by an independent board, regulated under the Dutch Healthcare Quality, Complaints and Disputes Act (Wkkgz).
The name Theocharis comes from the Greek for “Divine grace,” and the foundation is built around the same principles that guide Nicholas’s own recovery: honesty, accountability, personal responsibility, service, and growth. It operates independently of the 12-Step fellowships but works to complement rather than replace them — supporting meetings and sponsorship with structured, professional guidance.
In practice, that guidance spans:
- Pre-care and rehab readiness coaching, ahead of residential treatment
- Referrals to selected residential treatment centres
- Structured post-rehab aftercare, including coaching and peer mentorship
- Tailor-made recovery programmes for those not entering residential care
- Relapse prevention planning
- Workshops and online support
- Multi-day residential retreats for reflection and reinforcement
What This Means for Clients at Holina Cyprus
For clients coming through Holina Village Cyprus, this partnership means a warmer handoff into aftercare, a referral pathway that’s already been vetted rather than researched cold, and stronger continuity of support once residential treatment ends. It’s a practical extension of the same philosophy we build our own programme around — that recovery is a long process, not a fixed endpoint, and the right structure around a person after treatment matters as much as the treatment itself.
“Recovery doesn’t stop at discharge, and the organisations a person can lean on afterward often decide whether progress holds. Nicholas has built something rooted in his own lived experience and two decades of professional practice, and that’s exactly the kind of partner we want standing alongside our clients once they leave Holina.”
